SICOLAB Staten Island Collaboration

Sicolab is a community of artists that represent progressive movement through collaboration, innovation, and communication. We support and encourage artists to produce art that affects social change in underserved communities.

Our goal is to participate in local community cultural development through arts and cultural activities; by engaging the public in dialogue through multi-discipline arts projects and events that relate to aesthetic, social, political, diversity and environmental issues; presenting the contemporary arts in publicly accessible ways in underserved communities; providing technical assistance to emerging artists; and promoting cultural exchange locally, regionally, and internationally.

Sicolab is a forum for artists to speak about challenges they have, and workshop ways to alleviate their obstacles.

Short term Goals

• Building awareness of the arts (GOALS!!!)
• pooling together existing artists (Bringing artists together)
• creating events that we can invite other islanders and other boroughs
• Creating supportive enviroment for existing and developing new artists
• Supporting SI artists in achieving their needs (e.g. funding, material, space, venues, equipment)
• As per opportunity, collaborating collectively with other organizations that can help with our goals
