Are you a Staten Island artist? Do you want to meet other Staten Island artists while showing your work and possibly selling a piece or two? I'm looking for Staten Island only artists for the first Art Mix-Up at the Cup on November 22, 5-10 p.m. The Cup is located in Stapleton on Van Duzer Street. You will have to bring your own easel or stand, but there is a stage and plenty of table space.
Hey Everybody,
first: thank you to whoever offered music for my soundtrack. I think I've just about filled all the gaps but I appreciate your interest.
The soundtrack I refer to is for the full-length doc about Staten Island I just completed, "Road Trip: Staten Island." It's been my labor of love for over a year and I'm ready to share it with the island. On November 2nd I return to Israel (where I moved 6 months ago) but I'm hoping to hold screenings around the borough throughout October. Does anyone have any ideas for venues?
I recently moved back to New York and noticed just how much artwork there is in the subways. Too much to see in one day, and it's all over, all 5 boroughs. Is anyone interested in starting a monthly crawl? Maybe do a line at a time, borough by borough? Let me know!

I am the only certified dance instructor on Staten Island of American Tribal Style Belly Dance and I am seeking a venue to hold dance classes. If you have any recommendations or suggestions, please contact me at Naja_dancer@yahoo.com
Hey,
I'm working on a project for class on collaborative writing. I need artists willing to contribute a page for a journal made of upcycled material documenting your life on Staten Island. For details, specifics and to get in touch with me, please check out http://upcycledjournal.weebly.com/ and/or http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=127596194620&ref=nf . Your contribution can be a page of writing, song lyrics, music notes, it can be a visual piece. I'm hoping to get at least 20 people to particpate, so if you have a spare hour to make a page between now and Thanksgiving please consider helping me out!
Thanks,
Pia
I'm nearing the completion of a full-length documentary about Staten Island, "Road Trip: Staten Island." However, the body of the fine cut is missing some music. As the soundtrack is to consist entirely of locally made music, I'm asking you to submit original pieces.
The themes in the film I'm looking to soundtrack are:
Little town, big city
Long commute,
suburban ennui,
A house of my own, privacy,
Retirement, migration to New Jersey.
Of course the pieces don't have to be about any of these ideas, just harmonious with them. Lyric-heavy pieces are not recommended.

Does anyone want to docent my show up at The Studio 150 from July 25th until August 28th? Really, I just need someone to sit at the gallery on Saturdays from 12-8, and Sundays from 12-5. I can't pay you, but hey, you can put it on your resume and even use me as a reference if you do a good job. Take in some art, hang out with the snake...I'll even let you bartend the opening and keep all the tips. Whaddya say?
Give me a call.

In case you didn't read about my outrage on facebook today, I've decided to compile a list of 100 facts about staten island to be put in a tri-fold brochure and subsequent website.
This idea was spawned after a recent transplant from Brooklyn asked me "What is Shaolin?" then asked "Wu Tang is from SI?"
This project is called:
Staten Island: The Shit You Need to Know
100 important things to know if you plan on living, working, or being in Shaolin.

From Gerard:
This is the final weekend for performers to apply for Staten Island Pride 2009. The festival date is Saturday June 6th. To apply simple email me at gmawn@aol.com. The performance in indoors at the Cromwell Center on Staten Island rain or shine.
