Art ON The Ferry & Day De Dada Performance Art Parade

Calling all Artists!

To coincide with the Art By The Ferry Festival, SIcoLab will be presenting Art ON The Ferry. We will be carrying artwork onto the boat and riding back and forth in order to encourage people to get off the boat and come explore the festival. We are asking for artists to bring artwork that can be carried (or worn) to the Staten Island Ferry Promenade (Stadium side) at 11am on June 6, 2009. We will carry artwork until 2pm when we will walk over to the SI Museum to participate in the Day De Dada Performance Art Parade (the theme of the parade is Art & Commerce).

On Sunday, June 7, 2009, residents from all over Staten Island can experience "Treasure Your Island," a community awareness day. The event is free, and everyone is invited to attend. Parents can learn about all the great things to do with their children, and students can learn about volunteer opportunities with organizations on the island.

Figment on Governor's Island is an annual multi day festival only a short ferry ride from Manhattan. It is a wild mix of live art, music and happenings. All this in a beautiful island park.

Presenting the work of seven contemporary artists as they interpret this early encounter between the Native American peoples and the Europeans. Starting with that fateful encounter the clock started ticking for the Lenape culture, and began an era known by archeologists as the “Contact Period.” The night will include Native American flute music by recording artists Nightdancers.

The exhibition will be up at the Staten Island Museum, 75 Stuyvesant Place, through January 10, 2010.

2nd Annual Westerleigh Folk Music and Art Festival

The 2nd Annual Westerleigh Folk Music and Art Festival is looking for artists to display their work at Westerleigh Park on Saturday, June 20th ,2009.
The Festival is an all day affair from 12:00 noon till 7:30pm. It features local bands preforming music which ranges from Folk ,Blues, Folk-Rock,Gospel and Americana . We also host local craftspeople from guitar makers ,guitar repair, quilters and jewelery makers. Last years event drew about 600 people. The 2008 Festival did have a small group of artist display their work but the 2009 Festival hopes to greatly increase that number.
