Hey there fellow SIcoLabians,

Saturday June 6 begins the Art By The Ferry Festival (http://www.artbytheferry.org/Welcome.html)
SIcoLab will be presenting Art ON The Ferry, an installation piece that travels on the Ferry. We will be carrying artwork onto the boat and riding back and forth in order to encourage people to get off the boat and come explore the Festival. We are asking for artists to bring artwork that can be carried (or worn) to the Staten Island Ferry Promenade (Stadium side) at 11:30am.
From 12pm - 1:30pm we will ride the Ferry to attract people to come off the boat and check out the Festival.
At 2pm we will meet at the SI Museum courtyard to walk with the Day De Dada Performance Art Parade through the festival route.
After the parade from 4pm-5pm we will continue to ride the Ferry to attract people to come off the boat and check out the Festival.
Come out for the day or just come hang for a boat ride or two, either way come and support the arts on Staten Island!
If you need help transporting your artwork to the ferry OR you have any questions please email info@sicolab.org.

The Day De Dada Parade will be videotaped. Bring props, bring enthusiasm, get yourself out there and seen! The theme is "Money and Art" so anything goes.

Need ideas for the parade ?

Handout your autograph – you’re famous aren’t you?!
Try to buy things off of people passing by
Try to sell your art without words or by using gestures or miming
Silently shop only in your mind
Add up all the minutes you’ve spent on your art and think of what you’d like to be paid an hour. You’re rich !
Take pictures of your money then try to spend the photographs
See if merchants along the route will accept conceptual art for tangible goods
Trade/barter/steal/art from each other. Deny that you make art and then try to sell it
See art everywhere and marvel at the free price
Think about money. Think about art. Repeat
Sing a song of joyful art and then a mournful money dirge. Switch and repeat
Share your art freely then bill the audience
See if anyone will pay you to stop making art
Is art for sale? Ask everyone you see
Try to return a piece of art work you purchased using a phony receipt. See if you can get your money back
Make coupons redeemable for art
Offer sales and discounts on art to see if you can increase business
Ask everyone you meet if they would like to make art with you
Say “art” and then “money”. Say “art” and then “money”.
Create a poem about anything you want - we're not greedy
Ask the question “Is art money ? Is money art ?”
Answer the question “Is art money ? Is money art ?”
